REALIS Popper 64

At the annual ICAST trade show to be held in Orlando, Florida in July 2012, vendors in the sportfishing tackle industry unveil all the new tackle they’re planning for 2013.

New! DUO REALIS POPPER 64

Being seen for the very first time at ICAST tackle trade show in Orlando, Florida, the Realis Popper 64 is the latest model in the DUO REALIS bass family. The new Popper 64 joins the REALIS Vibration 68 & 62, Jerkbait 120SP, Pencil 110, Minnow 80SP, Shad 59MR, Flatside 54SR, Crank 48SR and Spinbait 60.

The 64 mm size of the Popper makes it a perfect “meal” for bass, who can “swallow” it in one bite. Despite the small size you can still cast it a mile and the splashing, dog-walking action is sure to bring out the fish you hope for in your wildest dreams.

Just like all the other DUO REALIS models, the Popper 64 was also developed by combining classical hand-carving of the master mold with precise duplication through 3D laser scanning and 3D CAD/CAM technology.

“All our models, the plastic ABS bodies are put together without using glue, but by solvent welding the bodies and joining them together by hand – giving them a strength superior to lures glued by other processes. The painting process is also done by hand, usually in 5-7 layers making sure to provide the highest possible standard in both color range and finish, giving our color superior appearance. As the “Nippon Quality” tag on the packages proudly states, our products are 100% made in Japan,” says DUO’s designer Mr. Adachi.

New! DUO REALIS JERKBAIT 120SP

REALIS Jerkbait 120SP

REALIS Jerkbait 120SP

With the Realis Jerkbait 120SP, DUO introduces a revolutionary jerkbait manufacturing concept called “multi-role” meaning that the Jerkbait 120SP can be applied to different fishing markets and uses in the most effective assembly for such, be it suspending, floating or sinking, according to the preferences of DUO distributors.

The internal moving weight transfer system is a lure engineering marvel. We introduce a new concept of dual “Bunk Bed” raceways that let two tungsten balls roll down separate (upper and lower) tracks to the tail to extend casting distance, flight stability and accuracy. On retrieve, the tungsten balls bunk bedded down in separate belly baffles where they knock against the body walls.
Jerkbait 120SP attracts fish from a wide area also thanks to its dual sound patterns. In addition to the two large tungsten balls creating a low pitch tone, it also includes smaller steel rattle balls in a separate chamber emitting a high pitch tone.

The bold, flat-sided body and its high pitch rolling action create an intense flashing and water-stirring ability. The lure also responds very well to rod work, staging a sharp flashing and darting action. Twitch it, jerk it, pause it, but most of all, it’s the suspending action that’s incredible.

Even with heavy duty hooks on it, 120SP has a true “weightless” suspend for stealth fishing and long periods of suspend time. In this regard, it has capabilities to earn a special place in anyone’s tackle box.

Drifting suspending lures with the current to hard to reach places is one of the most secret styles of lure fishing. Having a super long suspend time means the ability to drift the lure into hard to reach places like behind pillars and into places till the lure is not even in a straight path to the angler guaranteeing to reach any fish you after, no matter where they are hiding. DUO will reveal more of the 120SP’s secret suspending nature in future product information.

New! DUO REALIS PENCIL 110

REALIS Pencil 110

REALIS Pencil 110

It take just one cast to fall in love with this bait. Due to its aerodynamic shape and moving the rear treble off the tail to under the belly (to stabilize flight posture) , DUO managed to achieve user-friendly castability that’s unprecedented in a lure of this type.

Anyone from rank novice to expert will enjoy greater casting distance without being affected by wind, individual casting style or equipment.

To stay with the user-friendliness, DUO discovered that the easiest way for any angler to attain effortless dog-walking action was by sculpting a protruding hemisphere on the chin. This facilitates the head-swinging by using the water surface pressure against the bulbous hemisphere to change the direction of the movement. It just may be the easiest lure of all to “dog walk” thanks to that unique spherical shape on its chin. It produces a brisk and compact “dog-walking” action almost effortlessly.

A real surprise for the trophy bass expert – the Realis Pencil is built to handle the “big fight” of big fish. The line-tie and hook hangers are larger and heavier wire than normal and the Pencil is equipped with heavy duty #2 hooks as well.

DUO has added one more surprise – actually, two – with a two-knocker weight system. There’s a large rolling metal ball inside that creates your classic one-knocker noise as it hits the plastic body walls – but that’s not all! There’s a second fixed metal sphere in the tail section (to enhance castability) and when the moving metal ball hits the fixed metal ball it creates a second type of high-pitched knock.

Try one – and you’ll immediately see why anglers say it take just one cast to fall in love with this bait full of surprises.

DUO TIDE MINNOW SLIM 175 (“TMS175”)

Tide Minnow Slim 175

Tide Minnow Slim 175

The lure which DUO is associated with the most and justifiably since it’s a model which completely recreated the fishing tackle market of its time.

The pioneering, nowadays often imitated long slim body design with three trebles is what immediately set it apart from the competition and established TMS175 as THE lure for sea bass fishing and for many Japanese anglers, Tide Minnow and sea bass fishing have become synonymous.

TMS175 has found wide use in overseas markets too and its popularity has lasted for over a decade in saltwater havens like France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, where it has reached a truly legendary status. Not only saltwater, TMS175 has proven deadly also on largemouth as many Lake Biwa guides trying for the world record consider this model one of their favorite.

The larger size makes it easily noticeable to any fish within a wide area in addition to the amazing castability which gives the angler the advantage of being able to search and cove a huge portion of the water. The tight wobble and roll action of Tide Minnow Slim 175 is so unique that it guarantees getting the attention of any game fish you are after.

DUO challenges American anglers to give this lure a chance; it can be that “secret weapon” you are looking for to score big fish in fresh or saltwater.

New! DUO BAY RUFF MANIC 115

Bay Ruf Manic

Bay Ruf Manic

“While working at DUO I designed more than 200 lures and if I was asked about one that stands out for me the most, I would have to say the Bay Ruf Manic,” says DUO’s legendary lure designer, Mr. Adachi.

The Manic was created with a totally new action concept called “Manic Movement.” The lure’s buoyancy, weighting, volume and body shape have all been delicately adjusted to generate a slight pulsation (Manic Movement) that’s like no other action seen before, mesmerizing sea bass and a wide array of other wary, large fish, even in over-fished zones. The action created by this sensitively balanced lure is a tight rolling only; there is no wobbling or sinusoidal action. The rolling action is so tight that some anglers will not even think it is moving; rest assured it does leave a vibrant wake even at the slowest retrieval speeds.

The original Manic model immediately found many admirers and brought a new, exciting type of fishing which prompted us to increase the range to four sizes, all of which rank among our top sellers.

Best of all, the Manic has a basic, built-in action that any novice angler can produce, while for experts it can also be manipulated with rod and reeling to deliver infinite patterns of irregular action on demand. With some twitching and jerking of the rod, the lure performs an irregular action reminiscent of baitfish on the surface. A creative angler can find myriad uses for this lure.

As soon as you initiate retrieval, the lure will come to the surface and create an exquisite wake. The tight rolling action will add a weak but unique swell in the V-shaped wake, appealing more attractively to game fish.

Casting Distance is extreme. By moving the hook-eye from the tail section of the body, the lure was left with an aerodynamic pointed end. It has amazing castability for its size.

About DUO

Company Background

DUO North America

DUO North America

Amidst a recession in Japan that severely impacted the lure industry, company president Hisahiro Matsushita founded DUO in 1995. Prior to that, he had worked at a lure manufacturer with a long tradition before starting his own company.

The recession forced many competing companies to lower quality standards and switch to foreign factories for cheaper labor cost. However, Mr. Matsushita never compromised his goal of making DUO products of the highest quality. He did not abandon production in Japan for the poor quality of inferior production overseas. He held to his principles that top quality can only be reached by controlling in-house production from planning through sales.

Introducing Mr. Adachi, Duo’s Acclaimed Lure Designer

In 1997, Mr. Adachi, one of the most acclaimed young lure designers in Japan, joined DUO.

Japan is the country widely regarded as having the best lure manufacturing industry in the world, and Mr. Adachi and DUO are both widely considered to be at the top of the industry there.

Now in his 15th year at DUO, Mr. Adachi is well-known in Japan for producing magnificent lures that combine elegant beauty with amazing performance.

DUO’s Production Capabilities

By 2011, DUO`s range of products included over 250 models and the amount of lures sold has reached over 15 million units.

In addition, since 1999 DUO has been an active OEM supplying products to some of the top brands in Japan as well as enjoying its own success.

Combining Mr. Adachi’s Artisanship with High Precision Reproduction

Since its founding, DUO has been on the cutting edge of technology for lure development. By combining the classical tradition of hand-carving the master models and master molds, DUO precisely duplicates them using 3D Laser Scanning to reverse engineer the original lure art forms, and with high-precision mold-making through 3D CAD/CAM machining, DUO merges the dual and disparate dimensions of lure art and technology, producing a marvelous tool capable of achieving the angler’s end goal and dream.

DUO’s Worldwide Market Presence

Internationally, for over a decade, DUO has been successful in European markets, being considered an absolute top brand in the saltwater havens like France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, where our Tide Minnow series has reached a legendary status.

Only since 2011 has DUO started to pursue other overseas markets more aggressively and in the span of only the past 6 months, DUO has entered over 30 new markets – experiencing growth almost unheard of in the present state of the global economy and the fishing tackle industry. It’s a true testament to the quality of and worldwide reputation that precedes DUO’s products.

Introducing DUO North America

In what can be considered DUO’s major drive for their international strategy, this year marks the start of a relationship with DUO North America to bring DUO quality to North American retailers and anglers.

In mid-2012, DUO North America LLC opened its offices and warehouse in Davie, Florida to stock inventory of and distribute Japan’s top brand of premium hard baits for fresh and saltwater sport fishing.

“Quality, craftsmanship and artistry is DUO’s #1 priority. Our US warehouse is dedicated to supplying North America without having the unavailability issues and unpredictable deliveries normally associated with lures from Japan. We guarantee DUO and REALIS products will be widely available and quickly shipped to leading retailers across North America,” says Sheila Murphy, CEO of DUO North America.
